Political Musings ~ Apr 23, 2008
|
By Chad Graber
Given the Pennsylvania vote of April 22, 2008, let’s analyze the current
state of the mass idiocy that defines the Democratic Party shall we?
Hillary Clinton’s Terry Schaivo ‘esque campaign continues to limp along
on breathing tubes and life support as she refuses to accept the political
reality that she cannot beat O’Bama in the popular vote. Whether this is
due to Hillary’s wanton and gluttonous lust for personal power, her view
that it is her divinely ordained right to be the next president, or whether
she is really that big of a bitch, I don’t know. (Personally, I think it is all
of them.)
Even with her latest win in Pennsylvania (and despite the national media
proclaiming her the next coming of Octavian Caesar Augustus), every
political analyst (on both sides of the aisle) agrees that there are too few
states left for her to overtake O’Bama in the delegate count. North
Carolina and Indiana are next up in two weeks. Her campaign is out of
money, she cannot beat Barack in political campaigning and
advertisement, and she cannot hope to take North Carolina over Barack
given its high percentage of black democrats. So, Indiana has now
become her next Little Big Horn, her next “last stand”, and (hopefully) her
Waterloo.
Meanwhile, the same political analysts that less than a month ago
reported that both Democratic political candidates enjoyed 5-6% point
leads over McCain are now reporting that McCain has evened the margin
in the popular vote for the general election. Hillary chooses to arrogantly
continue the fight, even though the only way that she can win is a
scenario where the remaining super delegates supplant the outcome of
the general vote and decide that the public “just didn’t get it right”
thereby awarding her the nomination.
How is that going to look to potential democratic voters and the all
important independents in the forthcoming general election if Hillary wins
the primary without winning the popular vote? Does this bring any other
political disasters to mind? Does that sound like 2000 and Katherine
Harris to anyone else? Hmmm, well, let’s see here…my vote didn’t matter
in deciding the nominee, so why should I go to the polls now and back
her after she stole the primary election through back room deals and
shady promises to super delegates?
Hillary wants to make this campaign about “who can beat McCain”. Yet
Hillary is doing everything in her power to ensure that whomever the
democratic nominee is, they lose to a 72 year old, out of touch, Bush
clone that promises four more years of tax breaks for the wealthy,
skyrocketing oil prices, governmental grants to big oil, Blackwater
mercenaries, Brown and Root no bid contracts and 400 dollar toilet seats,
no health care for the poor, a forgotten New Orleans, unending war
against an enemy that the republicans can no longer even define, a
crippled economy, and out of control, presidentially-backed, good old
fashioned Republican fiscal irresponsibility. All while the middle class
fades farther and farther back into the history of American folklore and
myth as the rich continue to increase their stock portfolios and the
working class can’t afford to drive to work.
As a democrat, I for one would rather stay home and let McCain “stay the
Bush course” and continue America’s inexorable slide into Roman
Oligarchic ruin rather than support a candidate like Hillary that has the
breadth of arrogance to openly defy the wishes of the national electorate.

Freedom? ~ Apr 03, 2008
|

Brother musician Frank Martinez, drummer for the band Livid of Jacksonville, exquisitely described several confrontations with robot members of the Jacksonville Beach Police Department concerning a "noise" complaint in as well-written a blog entry as you'll see.
Frank may be the most articulate drummer we've ever met... by light years.
The first complaint came when they were setting up. They hadn't even begun to play when some tight-assed, hateful neighbor called the fuzz.
But, we'd rather you read Frank's account of the day that is simultaneously humorous and frightening. http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&f riendID=97675192&blogID=372362210
